Having looked at other photoshoots of rock bands, I want my images to have an edgy and powerful look to them. This can be achieved by asking my models to pose dominantly or boldly like Hayley Williams is doing so here.

However because I'm targeting females, I want to avoid presenting musicians sexually and the stereotype of violence surrounding the genre. As a result, my models will not be scantily dressed, and I will use a variety of shots - not just full body shots. Also, a posture like the one to the left would present rock music as violent, so not appropriate.

Another point is that many staged photos use a blank background, as these three examples show. This allows the artist to stand out more, and a house colour to be used. I will also use plain coloured backgrounds, keeping in mind that my house colours are the conventional three.

I've also noticed that many models - and these three are no exception - do not smile, but do make eye contact with the camera. This creates a personal, serious tone, making the content seem truthful and hard-hitting.

Furthermore, in order to appeal to my female audience, I would like to incorporate my models' hair in some way. Hair is a symbol of femininity, but is not sexual. I could ask my model to "play" with their hair in some way, or have it styled in a punky fashion like P!nk has.

In terms of props, very few music magazine photos include any, but if I do choose to embed a prop in my work, I will make sure it has relevance to the genre. An electric guitar for example would not be inappropriate, but may be hard to organise.

Here are my plans for all three pages of my magazine:

My analyses of the photos I will use can be seen HERE.

These are all of my (unedited) images. You can click on them to enlarge them and use the arrows to navigate through.

For some of the shots I included a skateboard. Although this does not have any strong relation to rock music, it does represent youth and fun - two aspects to positively present my chosen genre.

I feel I have not closely followed my planning above, but this has instead allowed me to take more photos and have new ideas. Also, there are some blurry photos like 133 and 059. Having taken so many different shots means I have a better selection to choose from.

However, I did ensure that I used a plain coloured background, and I feel the orange is especially affective with the bright blue shirt.
